Louisa Gee, daughter of Lysander and Theresa B. Gee, and sister of Mrs. Robert Skelton of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Emma Telford of Lewiston, Utah, was born in Tooele City, Jan, 3, 1865, Her death occurred, Wednesday, June 14, 1911, at the residence of Mrs. Skelton with whom she made her home, following a severe attack of plueropneumonia, the illness lasting only two days.
Brief memorial services were held Thursday afternoon, June 15, at 2 o'clock, at the home of Mrs. Skelton, 1056 Third Avenue. Among the speakers who paid tribute to her beautiful character were Elder George F. Richards, R. R. Lyman, John Gallagher and John D. Ford. Several beautiful selections were rendered by a quartet of the Twenty-seventh Ward, composed of Mrs. M. A. Davis, Mrs. B. J. Cardwell, Miss Alta Monson, and Miss Margaret Allen.
The body was interred in the Tooele City cemetery Friday, June 16, following services in the Tooele ward meetinghouse. Many beautiful floral tributes gave token of the love of many friends.
Previous to making her home in Salt Lake, Miss Gee was a prominent worker in the Tooele City Sunday School and the Young Women’s Mutual Improvement Association.
Miss Gee was also a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers (her father, Judge Lysander Gee, having been one of Utah's early settlers).
Miss Gee was greatly loved for her many noble and unselfish qualities, and her kindness in sickness and need. She will be greatly missed, not only by the immediate family, but by a large circle of friends and relatives in the intermountain region. |
