Alta Annetta Kerr Lowe Compiled from information obtained from Annie Kerr and Alta Lowe July 1972
Alta is the fifth child born to Marion Joseph Kerr and Ella Rebecca Merrill. She was born on December 6, 1888 in Richmond, Utah. Her family later moved to Ora, Idaho where they lived on the family farm.
She attended the Academy at Rexburg, Idaho where she met George Lowe who was teaching there. They were married on December 22, 1911. They established a home in Ogden where he was an attorney for many years. Since his death Alta has continued to live in the family home. Recently her vision has become impaired, but in spite of this she lives a very full and active life. She has many wonderful memories of traveling abroad and interesting activities and friends. She is a very extraordinary person who claims she has lived quite an ordinary life.
Alta and George have two sons, George and Ralph, who also live with their families in Ogden. George II is a successful surgeon. He and his wife, Beth, have six children, five sons and a daughter. George III is working on his doctorate at the University of Utah. He and his wife, Kaylene, have two children, George IV who is two years old, and a two month daughter, Kara. John and his wife are in Chicago where John is in medical school and Nancy is teaching in the elementary school. The third son, Steve, is attending graduate school at Harvard University. The fourth son. David. is attending Weber College in Ogden and working as a guide instructor at Jackson during the summer. Their fifth son, Robert, is filling a mission for the LDS Church in the Southern States. Their only daughter, Alta, is attending the University of Utah.
Ralph is a prominent attorney in Ogden. He and his wife, El Gene, have eight children, four daughters and four sons, and three grandchildren. Ralph's family is noted for their outstanding outdoor activities. especially in mountain climbing and skiing. Their son, Michael and his wife Carol, live in Colorado and work with Outward Bound. Two of their daughters are married. Melinda has two sons and Gretchen has one son. The rest of the family are engaged in the invention and manufacturing of equipment for camping and mountain climbing. |
