Although not this model, the Souths used steam engines to power the Island Park sawmills. Read David’s history to learn about specific engines used by the Souths.
The model shown here would be pulled by horses to the desired location. The engine would then be fired up, and the large fly wheel on the backside of the engine would drive a large belt which would attach to the saw mill.
I remember seeing an old steam engine abandoned in the forest near the mill. The engine had been used by the Souths. |
